The Lanterman Group selected as Lead Systems Integrator (LSI) for ACADEMI Expansion Effort

The Lanterman Group was selected to lead an expansion effort for the America Makes ACADEMI. The expansion effort is in response to The National Defense Education Program (NDEP) call for proposals, which sought to fund activities in support of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) education and outreach activities. NDEP received a $10M Congressional add in FY17, $2M of which is set aside to fund advanced manufacturing education and outreach initiatives.

The ACADEMI expansion effort will support America Makes in expanding the course offerings for the ACADEMI program, specifically by working with other Manufacturing USA Institutes and DoD partners, including The U.S. Army, U.S. Department of the Navy (DON), U.S. Air Force (USAF), Systems Engineering, and Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) to modify and expand existing manufacturing curriculum around DoD identified gaps in its advanced manufacturing education portfolio. Expanded course offerings are intended to be offered as continuing education and on-the-job training for DoD partners. The target audience for this training includes design engineers, manufacturing engineers and material science engineers who desire to learn skills from a holistic and integrated set of additive manufacturing disciplines.
